Why is waiting such a chore?
You're not content, and you're very bored.
In a world that moves so fast,
Why can't one enjoy a repast.

Appointments to keep, hurry to arrive;
Barely in time, sign in with a sigh.
Take a seat and be prepared,
To WAIT hours and still be there.

Alas, today I come again,
Dreading each mile of the way.
Daughted by the drive alone,
My first solo trip to there from home.

Arrived on time without a hitch,
Traffic mild, only one lane switch.
Where there used to be dust galore,
Was now all clean, brand new floors.

The office had been under repair,
Last visit was strown and dusty everywhere.
Now it's all completed de'cor
Beautiful, comfortable furniture galore.

Long soft sofas with pillows,
When you sat down, they billowed.
New high back chairs with TASTE,
With fresh cut flowers in a vase.

A huge aquarium, set in a wall,
And a cozy corner for kids when they called.
Look up and see beauty so swell,
Two chandeliers, sunken as in a well.

Beautiful hidden lights give a glow,
To all who rest and wait below.
Deep cranberry, ivory and green,
The hues of choice that covered the scene.

The windows adorned in ivory sheers,
Giving only a hint of how the outside appeared.
The quiet hum behind a glass wall,
Made of opaque cubes, beautifully installed.

The time waiting, now has a new view,
Not boring, but a peaceful room.
Decorative tables topped with live plants,
Books of your choice in a neat stand.

Even coffee tables to prop tired, swollen feet,
To this lone waiter, was a welcome treat.
If you have time, you may take a nap,
Or do as I did, and write in a pad.

Before I close this little ditty,
I have to admit it's still a pity,
The waiting time hasn't detered,
'Cause I'm still here awaiting the word;

"NEXT"

( The first two verses of this poem of description
were written in June at my appointment.  Today
I had to return, and was so pleased with the view,
I just had to write about it while I was waiting.
My Doctor is such a kind man and allowed
me to share it with him, when my turn finally
came, and liked it so much that he wanted a
copy.  Of course all I had was my Scribble pad
with my shorthand there.......so I am putting it
on my site and dedicating it to him.  Thank you
Dr. N. for taking such good care of me..and
all your many patients, who have patience !)

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is
good;  for His mercy endureth for ever.
