| Day dreams of years past, She thought their love would last. Now she waits at their place, While tears roll down her face. Memories flood her mind, Of happier days in time. They were so young then, Believing this would never end. Endless days of rendezvous, Trading emotions, love so true. Waiting with anticipation each day Until her Love came her way. But time escaped their grasp, The dream has long since passed. Now all she has is written down, In words of sadness so profound. The wind blows through her soul, As emptiness takes control. The young love that she revered Has long since disappeared. Out to sea he sailed away, And promised to be back in a day. The relentless waves rolled high, And took him, no chance for goodbyes. Everyday she makes her way, To the spot she was that day. When her true love raised his sails, And drifted away, to her travail. She has vowed to love no other, And stand watch for her lover. Knowing down deep inside, That, alas, he would never arrive. Written by Shirley Barr June 30, 2005 All Rights Reserved |
