As you travel day by day
Our precious Lord will lead the way,
In his footsteps we try to be
But there may be obstacles you do not see.
You must keep your eyes upon the mark
And be prepared when you start.
The tempter's snare is sometimes there
So keep you sword, and be aware.
The steps of Jesus are straight and narrow
And He never said there'd be no sorrow.
It takes a will to want to be
Among the ones that follow Thee.
It can be such a happy walk,
Hand in hand just having a talk.
He loves to hear just how you feel
And all your secrets you can reveal.
A sunny day, with breezes blowing,
And the presence of Jesus there is showing.
The joy you feel down deep inside,
Try as you may, you cannot hide.
So lift your voice and give Him Praise
As in His footsteps, you endeavor to stay.
What wonderful rewards will be waiting there,
If you take time with Jesus to share.
