THE EAGLE'S QUEST
The great bald eagle, it's beauty rare
Soaring and gliding through the air.
Majestic, strong and gentle too,
A symbol of freedom for me and you.

Building his nest with his mate
Carefully tucking each twig in place
Preparing a home for their future
For years to come, to tend and nurture.
Atop the tallest pine or crest
They choose a spot to build their nest
Protected from elements, wind and cold
The end result, is huge and bold.

His lady graceful, though larger than he
Lays her clutch of eggs from one to three.
They both in turn keep them warm and sublime
The eaglets are hatched in six weeks time.
Hatched and eating on their own
The eaglets watch as their parents leave home.
With keenest eyes they spy their prey
And retrieve it for babies food that day .

As eaglets grow and begin to fledge
Their parents push them to the ledge
And if they fall on baby wings
Dad swoops down, in his claws they cling.

Brought back safely to the nest,
Until the next flying test.
When they reach twelve weeks old
They must venture out, brave and bold.

The apron strings are untied
And they are responsible to survive.
Some will live own to start their home,
But some are lost when they’re left alone.
In  God’s word the eagle is mentioned
As a sign of strength and sometimes intervention.
As God’s children we are told,
To mount up as an eagle and to be bold.
