| On this very special day, I will remember you, The love child of my heart. My Memories of you are soft and warm With them I cannot part. I cannot lock away my memories It is bad enough that you are gone, But to hide and deny my memories Would be so very wrong. The sad times have mellowed out The grief is not so new. But fresh tears still run in my heart Whenever my thoughts turn to you. As long as my heart beats My thoughts of you will be strong. The memories and sadness are visitors still But the sadness does not stay as long. Each day it comes and goes Like people through a revolving door. The memories lift me up and make me smile The sadness crashes me to the floor. There are family and friends Who have loving and happy hearts, They let me share my thoughts of you That is where the healing starts. They are the ones who ask "Do you remember when?" And I see in their eyes, the smile on your face. And the journey begins again. So on the Very Special Day, I will remember you I will give to others because you gave me so much. I will reach out my hand with a smile and tear Reach out with a friendly touch. To those whose loved ones have become memories And the pain is so fresh and new. I will cry with them and hold their hands And in my heart I will remember you. Written by Lucy Boyer, All Rights Reserved FEBRUARY 14, 1995 |
